Thai military allowed to Preserve Self-Guided Use
Bangkok (ANTARA News / Reuters) - Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, Saturday, saying that the military was only allowed to use real bullets in clashes with protesters "Red Shirt" to "shoot into the air and defend ourselves."
Thai troops usually use rubber bullets and tear gas to deal with protesters, who responded to attack the soldiers with guns, bombs and grenades oil, in clashes that killed 12 people, including three soldiers, the worst political unrest that occurred in Bangkok in 18 last year.
"I would say that is only allowed to use real bullets to shoot into the air and self-defense," Abhisit said in his statement to the nation on television.
He added that the perpetrators of the rally was also armed.
Abhisit proposed "regrets" to the families of the victims and said that the investigation will be conducted.
"The soldiers have ceased operations. Action rally continues but does not interfere with the security forces."
