Palo Alto, KOMPAS.com - though certainly going to have their own smartphone platform with the acquisition of Palm, HP is not going to break the partnership with Microsoft. Both companies have been known to have close cooperation arguably even exclusive to develop products together.
"We will continue to be a strategic partner of Microsoft, but we believe there are other opportunities that we could get with Palm," said Todd Bradley, one of the Personal Systems Group, HP executives as reported by Engadget, Wednesday (28/04/2010).
HP announced an agreement to acquire Palm for 1.2 billion U.S. dollars. This acquisition process will be completed on July 31, 2010. HP states joining of both companies an opportunity to gain market share even greater mobile computing is not impossible that HP will become the market leader in this field. With this acquisition, HP will likely use a WebOS platform in a number of devices such as tablets and netbooks and strengthen its position in the smartphone business, and developing integrated services to enhance the mobile experience.
But, certainly working with HP to Microsoft does not preclude using other platforms besides Windows. Previously, HP and Microsoft shoulder to shoulder to develop a tablet device will be called Slate HP with Windows 7 is expected to be competing with Apple's iPad. HP also released a notebook with the Windows platform and Windows PDA Phone in product HP iPad.
