One U.S. Soldier Killed in Baghdad
Baghdad, KOMPAS.com - A U.S. soldier was killed in "combat operations" in Baghdad, Thursday (18/3/2010), the U.S. military said in a statement. The soldier was "killed in combat operations in Baghdad on March 18", the statement said without further explanation.
Sunday (14.3.2010), one U.S. soldier was killed and two people were injured in rocket or mortar attacks against American bases in central Iraq.
Soldiers are not mentioned by name were killed in the "indirect shooting attack" against a base in Diyala province north of Baghdad, the U.S. military said in a statement - refers to a rocket or mortar attacks. "The victims of the injured were taken to a nearby military medical facility and is now in stable condition," the statement said.
U.S. military gave no further explanation in the statement.
In a separate statement, the U.S. military said another American soldier was also killed in incidents unrelated to the war on Sunday in the province of Nineveh, northern Iraq.
With that final death, the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq to 4386 since the US-led invasion to the country in 2003, according to AFP count based on figures from independent website www.icasualties.org.
