KUALA LUMPUR, Kompas.com - Championship of the world mixed team badminton, Sudirman Cup 2011, will be held in Qingdao city, Shandong Province, China. This is an annual meeting of the Badminton World Federation (BWF), which performed on Saturday (15/05/2010).
"I've been there and seen the facilities good enough," said Chief Operating Officer Thomas Lund BWF to the press at the Putra Stadium, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Saturday.
Qingdao was chosen as the organizers of this biennial tournament, he said, is the result of the annual meeting (AGM) BWF.
During the event, also held the signing of a memorandum of understanding between BWF President Kang Young Joong, along with Deputy President Paisan Rangsikitpho with the Secretary General of China Badminton Association (CBA), Liu Fengyan, and representatives from the Badminton Association of Qingdao Peng Yinian.
In addition, the AGM also ensure that badminton in the London 2012 Olympics will be held at Wembley Arena.
"It has been approved by the BWF, the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and the London Olympic Organizing Committee (LOGOC)," Paisan said.
It added that the BWF headquarters will remain in Kuala Lumpur, after BWF extend the contract with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) until 2013.
