London (ANTARA News / Reuters) - West Ham United have sacked coach Gianfranco Zola's Italian, English Premier League club said that, Tuesday.
"The Board thanked the Director (to Zola) for his contributions and wish him success in the future. Clubs will now concentrate his efforts to find a successor," said a statement on the club page (www.whufc.com).
Former Chelsea and Italy striker Zola joins West Ham September 2008 and experienced hard times in the east London club, whose peak is almost relegated this season.
Suffocating debt in connection with the collapse of imperial entrepreneur Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson, the former owner of the club, West Ham bought by former owner of Birmingham City, David Gold and David Sullivan in January and the future of Zola since it continues to be speculation.
Zola signaled disagreement with the club's board in April, when he said he was not consulted about the efforts to recruit midfielder Graham Dorrans West Bromwich Albion.
43-year-old coach said he was surprised to read that recruitment efforts in the newspaper. West Ham ranked 17th this season, one place and five points above the relegation zone.
