Fires On Iranian Oil Wells, Three Killed
Tehran (ANTARA News / Reuters) - Fire at an oil well in Iran near the Iraqi border Saturday, killing three people and injuring 10 others, said the official Iranian news agency IRNA.
"The fire broke out Saturday morning in an oil well in the naphtha Shahr, the border region, with an unknown cause," said Bahram Teimouri, governor of Qasr-e Shirin in Kermanshah province, told IRNA.
Kermanshah is situated on the border of Iraq.
There is no risk that the fire would spread to other oil wells, the official said.
"The rescue workers are now providing assistance to victims. Assistance was also requested from surrounding towns in addition to Tehran," said Teimouri.
The report did not explain in detail how much the oil wells.
Iran is an OPEC member and is the fifth largest oil exporting country in the world.
