Obama Visits Deferred, Fixed Investment Flow

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - While United States President Barack Obama delaying his visit to Indonesia, but the government remains optimistic on the potential for U.S. companies investing in Indonesia.

Economic Coordinating Minister Hatta Rajasa said so far the U.S. private companies show his seriousness to invest in Indonesia.

"Working together we and the U.S. there is OPIC (Overseas Private Investment Corporation). Of course with our agreement with OPIC it shows that the private sector shows a serious U.S. investments in Indonesia," Hatta said during a news conference in his office, Jakarta, Friday (19 / 3 / 2010). OPIC is a collaboration that has been discussed between the Indonesian government with the United States. This same plan will work during the coming Obama matured later.

Hatta believe U.S. investors will be attracted to invest their capital in Indonesia. The reason is, between Indonesia and the U.S. there will be no competition because there was no similarity of products. Therefore, continued Hatta, Indonesia is expected to make a profit if they can take advantage of this cooperation.

"We are not the same with the Americans for their products. So, there is no competition. This is different from other countries. We will take great benefit in the economic sectors of cooperation," he said.
