US-Russia Agree Not to Nuclear Disarmament

Liputan6.com, Moscow: Talks between Russia and the United States in Moscow, failed to reach a new agreement in the discussion of nuclear disarmament treaty. Similarly NHK released on Friday (19 / 3).

NHK said a source in a two-day visit in Moscow, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Both exchanged views on a new disarmament treaty to replace the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty or START-1 in 1991 which ended last December.

In a press conference, Hillary said that although the meeting had not produced a decision that, he hopes the two countries could soon agree on a new treaty on nuclear disarmament with Russia. Especially, before the High Level Conference on Nuclear Security in Washington DC, USA, next April.

Meanwhile, Lavrov said Russia demanded the new Nuclear nonproleferasi agreement also included a clause barring installation of a missile defense system the U.S. property. The demand was issued, following Russian objections on Romania's willingness in early February and then to install the interceptor missile system on its territory. (ADD / ANS)
