Sri Mulyani: Rupiah Menguat 15.4% in 2009, Highest in Asia

"The strengthening of the rupiah in 2009 reached 15.4% or the highest in Asia. While in the January to February 2010 has strengthened 1.3% despite the global financial sector is still in a state of fluctuation," he said.

Sri Mulyani said that, during the year 2009, foreign funds (net capital inflow) is entered into the instruments of the State Securities (SBN) amounting to Rp 20.39 trillion. Higher than the entry of foreign funds during the year 2008 the amount of Rp 9.4 trillion.

"As for the month of January 2010 alone, there have been net capital inflow into the SBN amounting to Rp 7.07 trillion," he added.

Additionally, Sri Mulyani said too swift flow of foreign funds into the foreign exchange reserves caused the year 2009 increased to $ 66.1 billion UD. "Well in this January 2010, foreign exchange reserves also increased to U.S. $ 69 billion or equivalent to 6 months of imports premises," he concluded.
