Ask Sri Mulyani BI Immediately Completes Bank Tax Problems

Bank Indonesia (BI) urged the Ministry of Finance to resolve the double taxation liabilities (double tax) sharia banks. Supposedly, since 1 April 2010 was again a double tax is not a problem for Islamic banks.

"Double taxation liabilities payable which is still billed to the Islamic banks has been submitted to the Ministry of Finance to be resolved," said Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia Muliaman D Hadad to detikFinance in Jakarta, Sunday (25/04/2010).

Muliaman said that, in accordance with the law number 42/2009 regarding VAT applicable on 1 April 2010 issue of Islamic bank tax was supposed to be finished.

"Thus, the tax is no longer a problem because of double taxation is to be completed since 1 April 2010 and then," he said.

The central bank also ensure that tax problems twisting Islamic banks will not occur again in the future.

Earlier, Islamic banks who take shelter under the Association of Indonesian Sharia Banks (Asbisindo) decided to take legal action related to tax debts that are still billed by the Directorate General of Taxation. Based on data from the Tax Directorate General of debt-sharia bank debt reached USD 400 billion.
