Sale, 1,5 Million Stolen Accounts Facebook

WASHINGTON, KOMPAS.com - black market trade in virtual worlds is not new. If the data had a credit card owners who bought or sold, this time a stolen Facebook account soon becomes a commodity.

Researchers from Verisign iDefense team reported Facebook account offering 1.5 million stolen from a hacker (hackers) who called himself Kirllos in a forum "underground". Kirllos offer price of 25 dollars-45 dollars per 1000 following account login name and password, depending on the number of friends on each account.

"Until now, it seems Kirllos've managed to sell almost 700 000 accounts," says Rick Howard, director of VeriSign Cyber Intelligence, quoted by PCWorld, Thursday (22/04/2010). Kirllos the price offered is relatively inexpensive because, according to a report entitled "Internet Security Threat Report released by Symantec, an e-mail address and password are sold on average between one U.S. dollar, 20 dollars per account.

Buyer account is generally illegal to use it to ensnare victims who are not technology literate. Illegal accounts will be used to spread spam, scam, or link contains malware that will infect the victim's computer.
