Australia to World Cup Warm-up Danish Opponent

Melbourne (ANTARA News / Reuters) - Australia will play a friendly against Danish on June 1, 2010 as part of preparation for the World Cup in South Africa.

Matches are played at Ruimsig stadium in Johannesburg, said Football Federation Australia said in a statement.

"Danish is another team that also qualified for the World Cup and also have the same style game with potential opponent that we'll face in South Africa later on," said Australia coach Pim Verbeek.

"They are strong both physically and skill and it will be a benefit to our preparations," he added.

Australia in World Cup draw will be in Group D with Germany, Serbia and Ghana, and once the previous play when losing 1-3 against the Danes in London in 2007.

While the Danes themselves are in Group E along with Japan, the Netherlands and Cameroon.

Australia will play their last warm-up third or against the United States in the same place on June 5, after meeting New Zealand at Melbourne cricket ground on May 24, before flying to South Africa.
