Egypt Denies Gaza Tunnels poisoning
Liputan6.com, Cairo: An Egyptian officials denied the accusations spread the poisonous gas into tunnels under the border between Egypt and Gaza. As a result of toxic gas, at least five Palestinians were reported killed [read: Toxic Gas Workers Kill Four Palestinians].
"Egyptian security forces did not poison the tunnel and had nothing to do with the assassination of the Palestinian people," said a security guard who did not want to be identified. "This is the act of Hamas. They killed the workers by allowing them to smuggle goods through tunnels."
He also added, Palestinians were probably killed by a butane gas cylinder which was smuggled into Gaza through tunnels. "Egypt will not blow up the tunnel because of its proximity to residential areas," he asserted.
Hundreds of Gaza tunnel dug by Palestinians deliberately, in order to smuggle various types of goods from Egypt into Gaza. This was done to oppose strict Israeli blockade since June 2007. (AST / SHA)
