Iran denies accusations of India International Support
WASHINGTON, KOMPAS.com - India to clarify its opposition to new sanctions on Iran over its controversial nuclear program. According to India, the new sanctions are being sought United States (U.S.) and its allies will not solve the problem.
India's stance came as the U.S. to gather support to implement new sanctions on Iran. At the same time India wants Iran's cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to convince the world that the country was not developing nuclear weapons.
"We do not believe that sanctions are one answer. We think that sanctions will not solve the problem," said Indian sources. U.S. will hold talks with the UN Security Council permanent members to seek support for a new resolution for Iran.
India opposes new sanctions against Iran because the country felt that only ordinary citizens who will be affected. The sources said the best way for Iran to convince the world is only cooperate with the IAEA.
India has always claimed that the controversy around Iran's nuclear program should be discussed in the forum of the IAEA than the UNSC.
