Not to Successfully Speak SBY Condolences to Poland
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has expressed deep sense of grief to the government and people of Poland on the death of Polish President Lech Kaczynski in a plane crash during a visit to Russia.
"The President has instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs and representatives of the Indonesian Natalegawa Marthy in Poland to deliver it," said Presidential Spokesman, Julian Aldrin Pasha, Saturday (10/4/2010) evening.
Julian explains, President SBY has not been able to contact the Government of Poland to convey a sense of grief is directly, given the situation in the country was still in an atmosphere of sorrow.
However, Julian said, the Indonesian Government continues to make official contact with the Polish Government to express my deep sorrow and sympathy. Earlier, Russian news agency Itar-Tass, reported that in addition to President Kaczynski, at least 86 people were killed in the accident.
Plane carrying President Lech Kaczynski's entourage crashed while approaching the destination airport in the city of Smolensk. The accident occurred about 1.5 km from Smolensk Airport due to heavy fog conditions. They reported 132 people were on the Tupolev Tu-154's.
