A total of 40 people Injury Soccer Riots in Sarajevo

Sarajevo (ANTARA News / Reuters) - About 40 people, among them 17 policemen, were injured when a riot between football supporters after the game ended 1-1 Siroki Brijeg and Sarajevo between midnight Wednesday, police said Thursday.

Sarajevo supporters hoped to win the match in commemorating the death of a supporter of them in the game against Siroki Brijeg kerusahan, last October.

"You betrayed us," shouted the spectators to players and club officials after the game ended. The players tried to save themselves from the fury of their supporters in the stadium.

Proponents of it later fell out with the security officers and police who tried to prevent them from destroying the stadium.

"As many as 17 police were injured in the riots and several others seriously injured," said a spokesman for the Sarajevo police, Dragan Mijokovic, "More than 15 people detained supporters."

The spectators were injured in their face and head, but there are no serious injuries.

Some people also suffered injuries during a dispute with the police after the after the match between local club Velez, who plays in the southern city of Mostar.
