28 Killed in India Stung Electricity

Bhopal, India (AFP / Reuters) - A bus carrying wedding guests caught a high voltage power cable in central India, Friday, killing 28 passengers, mostly women and children, who were returned home after attending the event.

The accident occurred near the village of Surajpur in Mandla district, Madhya Pradesh state, about 450 kilometers from Bhopal, the capital of the region.

The local police chief told Reuters KK Sharma, the accident happened after a metal cabinet which was strapped onto the bus struck a high voltage electrical cables, which makes the whole vehicle was charred.

"Four passengers who managed to jump out of the bus were treated at local hospitals," he said.

Police trying to find out the exact number of bus passengers.
