Mahfud: I Do not Want a Title RI
VIVAnews - Chairman of the Constitutional Court (MK) Mahfud MD states will still be the judges of the Constitutional Court. He admitted that he never thought to ask yourself as president or vice president even though there are people who support them.
"Discourse I volunteered as president or vice president was too assume reliably," said Mahfud on the sidelines of the launch and discussion of the book 'Gus Dur: Political Islam and Nationalism' in Yogyakarta, Friday, May 14, 2010.
He argued if he advanced to be president or vice president but still served as a judge of the Constitutional Court, "I would not be fair in making decisions," he said. Because, he continued, he requires support from various parties to achieve that position.
"I never thought to take new positions in government," he said.
Furthermore, former Minister of Defense in the Era of Gus Dur's government re-affirmed this will remain the focus of the task mandated to him, namely as a judge of the constitution.
He did not even care if there are some opinions that say that support from the people for him to be president is very strong.
He even doubted whether it was real or not support. However, one thing is for sure, Mahfud never think to go forward to be president or vice president. "Because that would make my position as a judge to be unfair," he concluded. (JN)
