Sigli, KOMPAS.com-confirmed the Government will lift fuel subsidies in the near future. However, subsidy disbursement mechanism for the community and the amount has not been determined.

Said the Supreme People's Welfare Coordinating Minister Laksono, after the delivery of assistance of the National Community Empowerment Program in Sigli, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, Saturday (05/29/2010).

"It's still under discussion. It is quite high. But, the mechanism has not been ascertained and the amount," said Agung.

He said the government is still counting the amount of subsidy will be withdrawn and the mechanisms of distribution to the public. Former chairman of the House of Representatives, it also states the government does not intend to trouble the people of a certain economic group with the removal of these subsidies.

"The government will provide compensation, compensation to affected communities. Especially the poor," he said.

Agung said the government is currently intensifying efforts to reduce the number of poor people in Indonesia, from 14.1 percent in 2009 to only eight to 10 percent in 2014 to come. Hopefully, the withdrawal of subsidized fuel, the target reduction in the number of poor people in Indonesia are not disturbed.
