Infectious Disease Research Cooperation
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Development of programs to prevent infectious diseases or biosecurity should be carried out jointly by the countries that have the ability and technology who was awarded the state of biodiversity. Thus, the advantages and benefits will be obtained together.
Expectations were raised in the signing ceremony of cooperation between the University of Sidney delegation with representatives from universities in Indonesia and state officials involved in the field of education and research in Jakarta, Thursday (29/04/2010).
Professor Bruce Robinson, dean of the faculty of medicine University of Sydney, said today Australia had been cooperating with Vietnam in terms of research on diseases transmitted by mosquitoes.
"Going forward, we want to synergize this cooperation with Indonesia to remember the moment there are various types of new virus and the migration of animals, so pertukarani information is mandatory. It is also in accordance with the advice of WHO," he said.
The Australian delegation led by Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashier, Governor of New South Wales in Jakarta has been met with partners and academics and researchers to discuss the topic of infectious diseases and control of emissions.
In the field of health, other than on infectious diseases, researchers from Australia will come to Indonesia to study the science of forensic medical expertise of a research institute in Jakarta Eijkman. Other fields of medicine is the science of communication.
"We hope this cooperation the two parties can combine their respective strengths, particularly in research, teaching, and community programs," said Professor John Hearn, Vice-President-International University of Sidney.
