Dhaka (ANTARA News / Reuters) - A five-storey building collapsed in Dhaka, Wednesday, destroying several homes in the surrounding areas and caused at least nine people were killed, and dozens of others trapped in the rubble, police and witnesses said.

At least 50 people were injured in the rubble of the building, police said, which states that the incident was caused by poor construction. Rescue teams are searching the corpse or the survivors.

Almost all the tenants of the building can escape without injury because the building was tilting on one side, and most of the victims were residents of at least 200 houses around the building, witnesses said.

"The death toll will probably continue to increase up to tens, because about 100 people still trapped under rubble," said police at the scene. No further details about the incident.
