Ghana bans Government Watch World Cup
Akra (ANTARA News / Reuters) - President of Ghana prohibits the ministers and other government officials traveled to South Africa to watch a football game DFunia Cup, unless they have an official role in the tournament.
John Martey Newman, chief of staff Presisden Atta Mills, said the order was intended to ensure that governmental activities are not interrupted during the competition, which began in Africa for the first time on June 11.
Ghana team is nicknamed the "Black Stars", one of the brightest hopes in the continent, is the first African team to qualify for the 2010 World Cup and will face Germany, Serbia, and Australia in Group D.
"The goal is for the officials to stay here and carry out their duties during the tournament," said Newman.
Ghana made its public debut at the World Cup tournament in Germany last year, defeating Republican Cheska and the United States in the group stage before losing to Brazil in the round of 16 large.
Mils itself is among the leading figures who will witness the opening of the Black Stars match against Serbia on June 13.
