L `Montfort Amaury, France (AFP / Reuters) - Drivers Dutchman Lars Boom against cold conditions and strong winds as well as get rid of the favorites to reach his first yellow jersey this year at Paris-Nice race on Sunday local time.
Rabobank racer 24-year-old won the eight-kilometer prologue in Montfort Amaury `l, near Paris, to record the time 10 minutes 56 seconds.
Meanwhile, a German veteran Jens Voigt, the oldest driver 38-year-old who participated in this race, three seconds adrift with the drivers behind the United States Levi Leipheimer was third six seconds adrift.
While Pre-race favorite, also the Tour de France champion Alberto Contador had to settle for fourth in the six seconds adrift, too.
"I have been out segagal strength I have, and I know this field, with a few climbs on the start which makes the speed a little heavy, but after that field to be smooth," said Boom.
"With drivers like to beat Contador (winner Luis Leon 2009) Sanchez and others, so I hope I can keep the yellow jersey at the next race," he said.
Meanwhile Voigt who had won the opening of the Paris-Nice in 2005, making it clear that he is still the driver who needs to be taken into account.
"I have shown that at the age of 38 years I still eligible for racing, it's quite difficult terrain, but I enjoyed it,` said the German driver.
