RI-Timor Leste Health Sector Cooperation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Health Ministry and the Ministry of Health Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste has worked in health to deal with the threat of the spread of new diseases and old diseases re-emerged.
Endang Rahayu Health Minister and the Minister of Health Sedyaningsih Timor-Leste Nelson Martin signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in Jakarta, Thursday night.
"This cooperation could become a solid foundation for both countries to address health problems at the border and other health problems become regional and global issues," Endang said at the ceremony which was also attended by Health Ministry officials and East Timorese ambassador to Indonesia's Manuel Serrano .
Besides that, he continued, cooperation is also expected to provide benefits to the sustainability and strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the field of health.
While the Minister of Health Nelson Martin said, the signing of a memorandum of understanding that would be an umbrella for cooperation that will be useful for increasing the real degree of public health in both countries.
Health cooperation that both countries will do this include the areas of health service hospital, pharmaceutical and medical equipment, human resource development through education and training, and prevention of communicable diseases at the border.
The scope of cooperation also include pandemic preparedness efforts, improving maternal and child health, and health research and development.
