Thousands of Old Village Residents Sue Land Status
Liputan6.com, Batam: Thousands of residents of Kampung Tua or 36 native permukinan held a peaceful demonstration in Plain Mempura Batam Center Batam, Riau Islands, Friday (22 / 3). They urged the City Government of Batam Authority, the body area companies, Parliament, and the local National Land Agency and recommend immediate follow up certification process according to the Old Village area of legislation and regulations.
Residents worry that if the status of the Old Village area is not clear, they sometimes can be evicted. Like a wild home eviction is often the case in Batam, if the investor bought the land. Responding to these demands, Batam Mayor Ahmad Dahlan said the status of the Old Village area was included in the Regional Spatial Regulation of the City. Batam municipal government and related agencies have signed an agreement to fight the Old Village land status.
For your information, Kampung Tua has existed since 1829 earlier. While the authorities are building a new Batam City began in 1976. (Bog)
