Volcano in Iceland erupted, hundreds evacuate

Liputan6.com, Iceland: A volcano in southern Iceland has erupted. Around 500 residents who live near the mountain immediately evacuated. So proclaimed NHK, Monday (22 / 3). Active volcano in the area Eyjafjallajoekull, Iceland, is the fifth largest, broke out Saturday night. A recording indicates the magma vomit out of the crevices of snow-covered slopes. A burst of lava flowed down to the foot of the mountain.

There were no casualties or damage of injury were reported so far. The government of Iceland declared a state of emergency for the residents in the surrounding mountains. There are indications of fear that an explosion would occur just below the glacier, and can melt and cause flooding.

So far, there are no signs that the eruption would spread. The government simply says to stay alert. The mouth of the crater continued monitoring conducted from the air.
