Remove Microsoft Sexual Content in Advertising Kin

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Ad Kin, latest mobile phones developed by Microsoft and Sharp, gets the spotlight for being taught sex openly to young children. In one scene, a man entered the mobile phone into his shirt and photographing the chest to send to his girlfriend.

The findings were reported to Consumer Reports, such organizations Indonesian Consumers Foundation (YLKI) in the U.S.. The scene is disturbing because the phone Kin considered intended for young children, ages who are the focus of concern because sexting activity (exchanging messages and sexual content) became one of their current social problems.

"Sexting an important issue is much bigger than we imagined," said Dr Andy Phippen, researchers from the University of Plymouth, as reported by the Telegraph, Friday (16/4/2010). The research showed children aged 13-18 years tend to send pictures and videos containing sexual content to a fellow friend.

Responding to this, Microsoft would immediately react and claimed negligence. According to Microsoft, as reported by the Telegraph, the purpose of Kin in the ad campaign is to depict the social power of an energetic young and passionate.

"We have received feedback that one life-style video shown on Kin.com contain scenes that do not conform with the spirit of your choice. So, after consideration, we recognize that and have pulled it from the clip," said a spokeswoman for Microsoft.
