Former Prime Minister Thaksin sued As Terrorists
Liputan6.com, Bangkok: The attempt to silence the demands of democracy for the people and lower middle class being conducted in Thailand. The court has issued an arrest warrant for former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, on Tuesday (25 / 5), on charges of terrorism. He is suspected as the mastermind of the Red Shirt in violent protests over the past two months in Bangkok.
Details of the lawsuit has been recited in Criminal Court, a day after the Department of Special Investigation states Thaksin allegedly involved in the protests. Shortly after the court announced keputusanya, Robert Amsterdam - Thaksin's lawyers in London - said, "The government has perverted justice through false accusations of violations of logic, law, and any claims of a desire for reconciliation."
In past military coups in 2006, Thaksin was ousted from his post as Prime Minister since believed to have committed corrupt practices. But the accusation was never proven. Thaksin, who received support from lower-class people and then fled abroad and now lives in Dubai. (AP / AST / Job)
