Pakistani court Exempt four Marriott bombing suspect

Islamabad (ANTARA News / Reuters) - A Pakistani court on Wednesday freed four men accused of plotting and masterminding a 2008 suicide bomb attack on a five-star Marriott hotel in Islamabad, said one of their lawyers.

"The court found that evidence and witnesses presented by prosecutors was not sufficient to convict our client," said Qazi Waqar Hussain, one of their lawyers, told Reuters.

"The court approved our request and release them all," he added.

The four men were arrested after a bomb attack that killed 55 people.

Six foreigners including ambassadors Cheska and three U.S. citizens, are among those who died when an attacker detonated a bomb laden truck after failing to crash into the front security gate of the hotel on September 20, 2008.

Pakistan army is currently fighting militants in the country, which has links to al-Qaeda and Taliban-style government wants to establish in Muslim populated country, ever since Islamabad joined Washington's war leadership after the attacks, 11 September 2001 attacks on the United States.

Thousands of Pakistanis killed in the violence, mostly in the northwest region.
