Thai King Bhumibol's coronation Marks
Liputan6.com, Bangkok: In the midst of a political crisis that hit their country, Thais remain celebrates 60th anniversary coronation of King Bhumibol Adulyadej which falls on today (5 / 5). Thousands of people thronged the Grand Palace and the streets of Bangkok to pay homage to their king.
In a celebration held in the palace, King Bhumibol that since September and was hospitalized, was present among the royal family. He was accompanied by his wife Queen Sirikit. Also attending the event was key officials, including Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva.
Although his role is more symbolic, Bhumibol Adulyadej is the most revered figure in Thailand. Reigned for six decades, or about 60 years old, became king Bhumibol's longest-ruling the world today.
Meanwhile, anti-government protesters or a group of Red Shirt also held a memorial ceremony to honor the king. The mass of Buddhist monks to invite a number of events held at their demo headquarters in downtown Bangkok.
