BI Readiness OJK Watch Question Banking
Semarang (ANTARA) - Bank Indonesia (BI) questioned the readiness of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) conduct regulation and supervision of banks if eventually be formed, considering the number of banks in Indonesia.
"If OJK be established, then surveillance should be moved to OJK all banks, both commercial banks and 1 700 121 rural banks (BPR), which spread throughout Indonesia. If OJK formed it must be ready. It can not be left rural banks," said Deputy Governor of BI , S. Budi Rochadi, after the handover ceremony of BI leadership positions, Semarang, Semarang, Wednesday.
Budi insisted, BI has been strongly disagree with the establishment OJK because it will affect the achievement of the objectives and implementation of BI tasks.
"We've always been firmly that the position does not agree with OJK BI. We objected OJK formed, because we (BI, ed.) May not perform well if the monetary management has no data about the system and the financial condition of Indonesia every day," he said.
Therefore, BI has two alternatives, namely the formation of OJK as a separate entity, but remains under the chief commissioner, the commissioner with the BI, so OJK BI partners.
Alternatively, OJK and central banks have the same rights in conducting supervision and examination of financial institutions also continue to coordinate.
