Iran Ready to Ship Two Contrary to Gaza

Tehran, KOMPAS.com - A senior Iranian Red Crescent, Sunday (13/06/2010) states that the two ships which handled the humanitarian organizations that are ready heading to Gaza to bring aid. Now, the two ships just waiting for the approval of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"We are ready but still waiting for the permission of the foreign ministry for political, military and security in the region," said Mojtaba Majd, a senior Red Crescent officials quoted by the Mehr news. The two ships, each of which will carry food and medicine, is expected to contrast this weekend. In addition, humanitarian organizations also said it would send a plane carrying 30 tons of medical equipment sent to Egypt to Gaza.

Majd says more than 100,000 Iranians have signed up to go to Gaza as a volunteer on the ship. However, the Red Crescent will only allow for volunteers who have expertise only to be sent to the Palestinian territories.

Iranian Red Crescent had previously sent a ship carrying food aid and medicine to Gaza in December 2008 but banned from entering the area by the Israeli navy. Iran's decision to send the new assistance was made after Israeli commandos attacked the ship carrying aid Mavi Marmara and pro-Palestinian activists last month.
