Plastics Industry Incentive fee

Surabaya (ANTARA) - Manufacture of plastics in East Java will be charged an incentive after the draft local regulations on waste management was approved.

"Incentive fee levied from the plastics industry it is very effective to handle the waste of plastic which can not decompose naturally," said Agus Maimun, member of Commission D of the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) of East Java province, Surabaya, Tuesday.

He explained the purpose of ratification RAPERDA to local regulations is to manage and reduce waste production, both are easily decomposed and difficult.

Furthermore, an incentive which is collected from the plastic industry would be used as a substitute for potential environmental damage.

In addition, the implementation of an incentive fee was expected to reduce use of plastic packaging for some products gradually.

"Companies are given two options, whether they manage their own incentives or collected plastic waste. This makes the industry think twice in using raw materials of plastics," said the politician of the National Mandate Party (PAN) that.

The number of plastics industry with operations in East Java is expected to reach hundreds of units with production value reaching trillions of rupiah.

So far the plastics industry in East Java still lacks concern for environmental damage.
