UN Will Distribute Humanitarian Aid to Gaza
United Nations (ANTARA News / Xinhua-Oana) - United Nations (UN) Thursday said it will take over the humanitarian aims of the three Turkish ships Gaza who was arrested by Israeli troops last month, and distribute humanitarian forces.
"The United Nations has received permission from the owner of the Turkish-flagged cargo ship's three-owned and responsible for all the goods and ensure its distribution in Gaza for humanitarian purposes," said Robert Serry, UN special coordinator for Middle East Peace Process, in explanation to the UN Security Council.
"I want to announce that the United Nations are willing to accept this responsibility based on the pretext of extraordinary things," Serry said.
"We have reason to believe that the de facto rulers in Gaza would respect the impartiality of the UN program on this issue."
He said the 15 Security Council member countries agreed to dedicate the entire cargo of the Israeli government to the UN in Gaza "based on the understanding that relief goods will be distributed by the use of UN efforts in Gaza."
