Dozens of Bodies Found at Landslide Site

Liputan6.com, Beijing: a rescue team found the 42 victims killed landslides in southwestern China. Nevertheless, there were still about 57 people had been missing almost a week without any sign of life. Authorities initially reported more than 100 people trapped by landslides, but now it is mentioned 99 people were still trapped.

More than 700 rescuers and 26 excavators are now operating in a landslide disaster area in Dazhai Village, Guizhou Province. Meanwhile, several houses were buried on June 28 last, when nearly half of the hill collapsed because of heavy rains. As a result, as many as 2500 people were forced to relocate from 25 other areas at risk of landslides [read: Hundreds of Avalanche Victims occupy Refugee Tents].

Over the past few months, China is often hit by weather-related disasters. Last month, for example, a summer storm that hit southern China, resulting in 266 people dead, nearly 200 people missing, and forced 3.8 million people displaced from their homes. (AST / ANS / Xinhua)
