Leading Lebanese Shiite cleric dies
Liputan6.com, Beirut: Lebanon's leading Shia cleric, Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah, a blind eye at the age of 75 years in the Bahman Hospital, Beirut, on Sunday (4 / 7). Fadlallah medical sources confirmed, the cleric died of internal bleeding which has suffered since a few days ago.
Before he died, he had several times been hospitalized in recent months. On Friday last, he claimed to have been undergoing intensive treatment because his health deteriorated.
Fadlallah family originating from Lebanon, was born in Najaf, Iraq, and had time to study Islam in Najaf, before moving to Lebanon in 1952. In later years, he became a lecturer, wrote dozens of books, established several Islamic religious schools, and founded the Association Mabarrat. Through these associations, he founded a public library, women's cultural center, and a medical clinic.
Fadlallah is a supporter of the ideals of the Islamic Revolution of Iran and support the Islamic movement based in Lebanon. In addition, he is also known as the spiritual leader of Hezbollah, the armed Lebanese Shia group. Therefore, Fadlallah is often the target of assassination attempts, including a car bombing in Beirut, who allegedly masterminded the United States Central Intelligence Agency or CIA-sponsored and funded by Saudi Arabia.
