Say Capture Terrorist Suspect Venezuela El Salvador

Caracas (AFP / Reuters) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Friday said security forces had arrested a member of the group led by the accused bomber Luis Posada Carriles and the airplane gives the impression of El Salvador's alleged plan to kill him.

Chavez explained Francisco Chavez Abarca was arrested Thursday when he arrived at Maiquetia International Airport in Caracas.

"We have arrested a major terrorist ... He used a false name and be in the red list of Interpol as he is part of a group of Posada Carriles," the president said in a televised speech.

"Why did he come to Venezuela? My heart told me that these people came here to kill me."

Carriles, former CIA spies, and Cuban exile, has been sought in the Cuban and Venezuelan with a number of charges, including masterminding the 1976 bombing of a Cuban airplane that killed 73 people.

Anti-Castro militant told The New York Times in 1998 that he had planned a series of bomb explosions in Havana hotels that killed at least a year before the Italian. He later denied having said so.

A Cuban-born who were given citizenship of Venezuela, Posada Carriles escaped from prison in Venezuela in high berkeamanan 1985. He was arrested in the U.S. on charges of immigration violations a decade later, but was freed in 2007.

Chavez, who accuses Posada Carriles has been trying to kill some time, ask Washington extradite him for trial in Caracas, and described it as "the greatest terrorist in the history of Latin America."
