NEW YORK, KOMPAS.com - UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Tuesday (9/3/2010), condemned the Israeli plan to build more than 1,600 new homes in occupied Palestine. Earlier, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden too has condemned the same plan.
"Secretary-General condemned the approval of the plan to build 1600 new housing units in east Jerusalem by the Israeli Interior Ministry early today," said UN spokesman, Martin Nesirky, in a statement.
"(Ban) again repeated that the settlement was illegal under international law," he said. "In addition, he underlined that the settlement activity contrary to the obligation of Israel under Roadmap (peace plan), and destroy any efforts toward the peace process," continued the statement.
