Armed men in Iraq Kill 25 People
Baghdad (AFP) - The gunmen in military uniforms stormed a village in the south of the capital city of Baghdad, Saturday morning, and shot dead 20 men and five women from the families an anti-Qaeda militia, said the security officer.
"Men are wearing uniforms and driving the same vehicle used by armed forces when attacked three houses in the village of Sufia, in Hour Rajab area, and killed 25 people, including five women," said an interior ministry official, who spoke on condition not mentioned name.
Acting, said the killers tied their victims prior to slaughter.
A defense ministry officer confirmed details of the attack and number of the dead.
According to the defense ministry official, these families are part of the Sahwa movement (Awareness), also known as `` Sons of Iraq by the U.S. military.
They joined with U.S. and Iraqi forces in 2006 and 2007, to fight the group al Qaeda and its supporters, who made dramatic fall in violence across the country.
