Azarenka Out of Andalucia Open Since Injury
Marbella, Spain (AFP / Reuters) - Top seed Victoria Azarenka withdrew at Andalucia Open quarter-finals due to thigh muscle injury, local time Friday.
Belarusian tennis player's home led to the first set 4-0 against Spaniard Maria Jose Martinez when she withdrew in a state hospital. He received courtside treatment but was not able to continue the game.
Fifth seed Martinez advanced to the semifinals, Saturday, and meet other tennis player Spain Carla Suarez, who beat Tatjana Malek of Germany 4-6 6-1 6-2.
Second-seeded Italian Flavia Pennetta aside Romanian tennis player Simona Halep 6-4 7-6 and will next meet compatriot Sara Errani, who beat Beatriz Garcia 6-7 6-4 6-3.
