Microsoft Will Introduce New Mobile Home Week
WASHINGTON (AFP) - Microsoft plans to introduce new production mobile phone (cell phone) next week through social networking capabilities to target young consumers, The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.
Microsoft spokesman confirmed to AFP that the U.S. software giant is planning to organize an event in San Francisco on April 12, but declined to say on these issues.
However, the Journal, citing "people know the problem" by saying that Microsoft plans to introduce a new mobile phone manufactured by Sharp Corp. of Japan.
It is said, Microsoft has designed the software, service "online" and hardware for the new phone as part of a development project code-named "Pink".
It said the phone will be offered through a partnership with Verizon Wireless, the phone company owned by Verizon Communications and Vodafone.
Phone is in the early stages will only be available in the United States, said the Journal, but soon will be available internationally.
The Journal said the phone will be running software that resembles Microsoft's new mobile operating system scheduled for released later this year called Windows Phone 7.
