Liputan6.com, Jakarta: The rupiah in the Jakarta interbank spot currency market, Monday afternoon (5 / 4) rose 20 points to the position of Rp 9055 per U.S. dollar. Strengthening a positive perspective is supported by the Indonesian economy and improvement in the stock market situation.

Money market observer Edwin Sinaga AFP quoted as saying, strengthening the rupiah had been expected earlier due to the stronger positive factors, such as the improvement of Indonesian macro economic performance and continued improvement in U.S. stocks.

"We are optimistic the rupiah will be able to break the 9000 per dollar," he said.

Edwin Sinaga who is also president director of Finan Corpindo Nusa say, the more foreign players to increase their investment in the domestic market that gives great hope rupiah will continue to strengthen.

The problem, continued Edwin, an increase of rupiah would be a problem for exporters, because the products sell in export markets become less competitive. Therefore, the possibility of Bank Indonesia (BI) will hold the rate of strengthening the rupiah through intervention.
