Bomb threats, Cathay Pacific escort Jet Aircraft
Liputan6.com, Vancouver: Two fighter jets F-18 Hornet Canadian Air Force's escort Cathay Pacific flight which took off from Hong Kong International Airport. This escort following a bomb threat. The aircraft landed safely at Vancouver International Airport, Canada, Saturday (15 / 5).
Canadian police claimed, the Cathay Pacific flight all passengers are safe. In addition, police found no suspicious objects in the trunk of the aircraft. The threat of Cathay Pacific aircraft police reported at around 10:45 local time (17:45 GMT), and taken seriously by the government.
Two F-18 Hornet jets intercept an Airbus A340 carrying about 283 passengers and 14 crew. Furthermore, the two fighter jets that flew beside the Cathay Pacific plane landed at about 1:40 to local time.
Maj. Holly Apostoliu, aviation security commander said, "As a precaution, Norad fighters (the combined Canadian and United States AU) escort the Cathay Pacific aircraft to land safely in Vancouver."
Several passengers said the plane was not notified of the problem of flight. One of the passengers said that the fighters appeared suddenly about 80 miles or about 128 miles from Vancouver.
