Paramaribo (ANTARA News / Reuters) - An Antonov plane belonging Saturday Suriname airline crashed in the remote highlands of the South American country, with two crew and six passengers feared dead, authorities said.
Antonov AN-28 aircraft twin-engine crashed shortly after takeoff from the airport Godo Olo in eastern Suriname, said Civil Aviation Department.
Rescue teams tried to reach it by using motor boats and helicopters, but could not reach it because of bad weather.
The official did not say anything about the cause of the accident.
Antonov AN-28 aircraft of other companies owned by the same, the Blue Wing Airlines, also fell in Suriname in 2008, killing 19 people.
