Turkmen President Will Visit Two Days in India
Ashgabat (AFP / RIA-Novosti Oana) - Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow Monday will conduct a two-day official visit to India, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
This is the first visit to India Berdimuhamedow, which makes it important in the history of Turkmenistan's relations with India, the foreign ministry said.
In addition to meeting with presidents and prime ministers of India, Turkmenistan's leader is also scheduled to meet with other politicians, in addition to representatives binis.
The Ministry said the main focus of talks between the presidents of both countries will revolve around the development of trade and economic cooperation, especially in fuel and energy sector.
India interested in the construction of the Trans-Afghan gas pipeline that would run from Turkmenistan through Afghanistan, Pakistan and ended up in India to transport gas from the Caspian Sea.
Trade between India and Turkmenistan increased by 20 percent in 2009 compared with the previous year.
