Year 1040 ETA separatist Punished

MADRID, KOMPAS.com - Court of Spain, Friday (21 / 5), said three members of the Basque separatist ETA guilty of murder, attempted murder and participating in terrorist acts. To that end, they each were sentenced to 1040 years.

The three men, Igor Portuguese, Mattin Sarasola and Mikel San Sebastian, was found guilty of two murders at Barajas Airport, Madrid, on December 30, 2006, and 48 attempted murder and numerous other terrorist acts.

In action at the airport Barajas, they detonated the bomb that destroyed a five-story parking lot. Action was killed two Ecuadorian immigrants and injured 41 people. For this case, the court decided, all three should each pay compensation of 1.2 million euros (1.50 million dollars) to the families of Ecuadorian citizens who become victims.

Shortly after the blast at Barajas, ETA claimed responsibility for the attack but said the explosion did not intend to kill anyone. Attack the bomb to end the unilateral ceasefire for the past nine months. Spanish Socialist government immediately canceled the peace process which started since ETA announced a permanent ceasefire in March 2006.

Since the 1960s fighting for the independence of the Basque ETA, and perjuanganitu had swallowed at least 825 casualties.
