Ancient Whale Fossil Published in Tokyo
Liputan6.com, Tokyo: Exhibition of fossil marine mammals held in the Museum of Tokyo, Japan. This exhibition is important because many marine mammals on the verge of extinction because of pollution caused by humans. Between bone and specimens of about 70 species of mammals live in the sea, complete skeleton of a blue whale or the largest mammal on earth, it turns out the most popular.
As reported by NHK, Saturday (10 / 7), the exhibition was held displaying the blue whale fossils up to 25 meters in length. The blue whale is an ancient whales evolved in the mid-Eocene period, approximately 50 million years ago. One of the earliest whales have been extinct is basilosaurus that have a small head and prominent bermoncong toothed.
There is also a screen that displays a replica of a sperm whale was eating a giant squid. Shows the cross-section replica whale's head, at which the acoustic energy emitted strengthened prior to hunting. Sperm whales can be seen near the Ogasawara Islands, about a thousand kilometers south of Tokyo. (ANS)
