Finance minister: Agency OJK More Successful

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Agus DW Martowardojo states that in practice in the world, more a kind of institutional financial services authority (OJK) who successfully fulfill their function rather than a failure.

"There are more than 30-40 such organizations are well OJK oversee banking, insurance, capital markets," Agus said at the seminar of financial reforms to strengthen the foundation, competitiveness, and national economic stability in Jakarta on Thursday.

He acknowledges, there is OJK in Europe (UK) who failed to supervise so that the financial crisis.

"But the others went well as in Canada and Australia," Agus said at the seminar in order to socialize the Bill on OJK.

Agus hope, OJK which will be established under the Law on OJK, an organization that functions properly.

"The government believes will become an institution OJK honorable, respectful, and give certainty to the financial industry, independent and healthy," he said.

According to him, the Law on OJK not going to set the mechanism of cooperation BI, Kemenkeu, and Deposit Insurance Agency, because it will be regulated through the Law on Financial Sector Safety Net (JPSK).

"We JPSK draft was finalized and will be presented to Parliament later this year," said Minister of Finance.
