Killed 200 people piled up in Sierra Leone
Liputan6.com, Freetown: At least 200 people were killed in a cave that is a gold mining area in the West African country, Sierra Leone, as the media reported Friday (19 / 3). The scene was in the southern part of Sierra Leone, less than 300 km from the capital Freetown. According to reports, fateful event happened because of a collapsed trench. However, so far there was still no further details about the incident.
Bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, Sierra Leone lies between Guinea and Liberia in western Africa. This country has an area of approximately 72,000 square kilometers, with natural resources including gold, diamonds, bauxite, and iron ore.
This country has experienced civil war for a decade. Government of Sierra Leone with the United Nations (UN), has set up special courts in 2002 ago. This special court is mandated to make people be responsible for atrocities in Sierra Leone after 30 November 1996. (Xinhua / ARL)
