Nokia Acquisition Metacarta, Geography of Intelligent Service

Espoo, KOMPAS.com - the world's largest mobile phone producer, Nokia claimed the acquisition or takeover of the company's geography-based intelligent service provider, Metacarta. Nokia did not disclose the acquisition price is paid in the deal that was announced Friday (9/4/2010) ago.

Services are identified as part of its strategy to strengthen the maps and navigation services on mobile phones. Metacarta provide intelligent services to find your favorite spot and displays them on the map in one view. Metacarta technology combines geosearch and geotagging which enables users to find content on any site quickly. Companies based in Massachusetts, USA employs over 30 people.

Provision of free map services from Nokia to strengthen its competition with Google's first offering free navigation on the Android-based smartphone market.
